Aaron is the IBM Z’s Chief Technical Penguin and leads the technical journey for startups in the IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator program. In this role drives the technical journey for 45 startups that will be growing to 100 by the end of 2021. He serves as a Cloud Solutions Architect, Technical Project Manager, and virtual CTO where he helps fintech, healthtech, and insurtech startups to build and scale their solution with a lens on incorporating confidential computing via IBM’s Hyper Protect Services product portfolio.
Prior to IBM, Aaron was a Cloud Solutions architect for Microsoft, SaaS provider Accruent, and Goodyear, where he led cloud education initiatives and cloud modernization strategy.
After serving in the United States Navy, Aaron started his IT career as a developer and later served as a Manager of Developers, Business Analysts, Test Analysts, Vendor Managers. During his twenty plus years, he has worked in banking, electric utilities, health care, transportation industries.
Aaron is an analytical and solution-oriented professional with expertise in guiding teams to improve efficiency by identifying core issues.
In his free time, Aaron enjoys working out, music and food festivals, video games, and spending time with his family.
Dalma Novak is VP of Engineering at Octane Wireless (formerly Pharad, LLC) where she develops high-performance RF-over-fiber technologies. Prior to co-founding Pharad in 2004, she spent 12 years as a Professor and Chair of Telecommunications in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Melbourne, Australia. Her research interests include microwave photonics, fiber-radio systems, wireless technologies, and optical communications. She has published more than 300 papers in these areas, including seven book chapters. In 2007 she was elected to the grade of IEEE Fellow for her contributions to enabling technologies for the implementation of fiber-radio systems. In 2018 she received the IEEE Photonics Society Engineering Achievement Award. Dalma is the 2021 – 2022 Chair of the IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and is also a member of the IEEE Board of Directors for 2021 – 2022.
Professor Carolyn McGregor is the Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence for Health and Wellness and a two-time Canada Research Chair in Health Informatics based at Ontario Tech University. She is the Founding Director of the Joint Research Centre in Artificial Intelligence for Health and Wellness between Ontario Tech University and University of Technology, Sydney. Dr McGregor AM has led pioneering research in Big Data analytics, stream computing, artificial intelligence, deep learning, internet of things, temporal data mining and cloud computing. She now progresses this research within the context of critical care medicine, precision public health, mental health, astronaut health and military and civilian tactical training. She is the inventor and lead on two international award-winning AI driven Big Data analytics platforms for health and wellness, Artemis and Athena.
She has over 180 refereed publications, 3 patents in multiple jurisdictions and has established two startup companies resulting from her research. In 2014 she was awarded membership in the Order of Australia for her significant service to science and innovation through health care information systems. In 2017 she was featured in the 150 Stories series commissioned by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and the Government of Canada to commemorate the 150th year anniversary of Ontario. In 2018 she was named as a Women Leader in Digital Health by Digital Health Canada.
Professor McGregor has many years of service to IEEE EMBS and LSTC. She was the Founding Chair of the NSW EMBS Chapter in Australia before moving in 2007 to Canada to take up her Canada Research Chair appointment. She was the Canadian representative for the EMBS for 2009-14 and was the inaugural IEEE EMBS WiE liaison commencing that role in 2009. In 2015 she served as an EMBS representative within the IEEE Life Sciences Technical Community (LSTC). She was Chair of LSTC for 2016-17 and Past Chair in 2018-19. In 2020 she was the EMBS VP Elect Member and Student Activities and now serves as the EMBS VP Member and Student Activities for 2021-22.
Kathleen Kramer is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA, USA. Her technical interests are in multisensor data fusion and applications of neural and fuzzy systems to navigation and data security. She is a Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE Aerospace & Electronics Systems Society (AESS), a member of IEEE Signal Processing Society and is a society coordinator to the IEEE Women in Engineering Committee. Her teaching interests are in signal processing and wireless communications. She has worked as a Member of Technical Staff doing research at several companies including ViaSat, Hewlett Packard, and Bell Communications Research. She is the 2019-21 IEEE Secretary & Director and is a leader on the Board of Directors of the over 400,000-member organization. She received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering magna cum laude with a second major in physics from Loyola Marymount University, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
